Retirement

Every journey has a beginning and an end


Making a career is the dream of a hard-working professional, he/she would have spent many hours with academics and practicing his knowledge to sharpen the skills that will allow him to stay afloat in the competition. When in the race, many forget that a day will come when all this will have to end, the day when he will be substituted.

Most of us are unprepared for such substitution and become irritated at the very thought of this process. It is unacceptable to us and we never foresee this event in our life even though it is inevitable. Planning for retirement has always been an advertisement caption for Insurance policies but it’s time we look seriously into our retirement plans and make decisions based on it

The organizations too should formulate retirement plans for their staff and animate the career graph for the employee for him to understand his future with the firm and enable him to make decisions. This will make the transition smooth and may even motivate the employee to give onsite training for the new individual replacing him.

When the firms have already defined the career path to employees, they will know when to quit working for a firm and start working for themselves, this will give them an opportunity to spend quality time with their family and give back to the society by mentoring the next generation. If we do not manufacture this space, the employees will be in distraught at the thought of having quit their job. There is a huge social and psychological stress when it comes to becoming unemployed after 55 years of age, they feel that they have become worthless in their circle as they are not earning and hence they will be considered a burden.

Planning for this substitution will enable the employee to walk through this stage of survival and will motivate him to explore life from a different angle. Both the organization and families play an important role in bringing the employee to the terms of moving forward after employment tenure. They should be able to explore and enjoy life without the hassles of employment,
